It was an honor to host the Fashion Emerging Designer Gauntlet Exhibit (Fashion E.D.G.E.) once again. Fashion E.D.G.E. showed us that dreams do come true no matter what they are! Five amazing designers presented their collections on the runway and were judged by Sharon Smith who is the National Program Chair for Fashion Design & merchandising, Dr. Renee Williams who is the owner of Design House of Color, and Matthew Cooley who is the stylist and costume assistant at Disney as well as a makeup artist. On top of this, at the end of the competition the audience got a chance to voice their opinion and vote on their favorite collection. The winning designer received a gorgeous plaque, a two week showcase at a local boutique called Design House of Color, and a feature in Orlando Fashion Magazine!
Starting the show with Jai Santiago and her collection N.Y CHULA, the crowd was in awe as the models wore leather and suede two pieces with fur and glitter accents. Next was Francesca Watson with her clothing line Fancy that represented burlesque designs which included tutus and sequins. After receiving a regal reaction, the crowd was then presented with Anita Cleveland's Sew U Designs! This collection was based off of an Alice in Wonderland theme and the clothing pieces were very well incorporated together to portray that image! For the last call, there was designer Angela Odom from Angel Ice Clothing who used modern day fits to express a sexy and confident collection.
After a close vote from the audience, the team of sisters named Azeemi won the contest with their collection Arzoo! Their effortless, chic looks paired with handmade handbags stole the show.
